Vancouver International Women in Film Festival

Now in its 15th year, the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival (VIWFF) showcases an impressive line-up of short and feature-length films covering a wide range of genres from narrative and documentary to experimental and animation, by established and emerging women identifying filmmakers from around the world.

We define women as those individuals who identify themselves within the spectrum of the gender identity of woman including trans women and cisgender women.

This six day celebration is organized by Women In Film and Television Vancouver (WIFTV), a member-driven not-for-profit society which addresses systemic barriers to women’s equal participation in the production and dissemination of screen-based media. VIWFF continues to provide a platform for challenging gender imbalance and the lack of diversity in the screen-based media industry through a combination of film screenings, discussions, and professional development opportunities as well as incorporating International Women’s Day events into its programming.

In addition to film screenings, the festival offers a variety of ancillary programming including workshops, pitch sessions, industry panel discussions, artist talks, receptions, networking events, an awards ceremony and more. VIWFF also organizes an international screenplay competition.

We are located on the unceded traditional and ancestral homelands of the land of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
