17 YEARS OF DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
Now in its 18th year, VIWFF continues to provide a platform for challenging gender inequity and the lack of diversity in the screen-based media industry through a combination of film screenings, discussions, professional development and networking opportunities.
The 2023 festival opens on March 8 (International Women’s Day) and will screen films with women and gender diverse filmmakers in at least 3/8 key creative roles.
In addition to showcasing an impressive line-up of short and feature-length films (narrative, documentary, experimental and animation) by established and emerging women and gender diverse filmmakers from around the world, the festival offers a dynamic range of ancillary programming, including:
• Panel discussions
• Artist talks
• Awards ceremony & gala
• International screenplay competition, and more!
VIWFF is the only film festival dedicated to women and gender diverse people in Western Canada, and one of just three international film festivals for women and gender diverse people in Canada.
VIWFF is the flagship annual event of Women in Film and Television Vancouver (WIFTV), a member-driven, not-for-profit society founded in 1989 which addresses systemic barriers to gender equity in screen-based media.
